Out of the Shade
This is the exhibition which in many ways explores the myth of the African continent where hunger, war and misery rules. The pictures describe an apparent hopeless situation from a positive point of view.

The exhibition consists of 59 black/white photos, divided in the following topics: The School, The Children’s Home, The Clinic, Livelihood, The Will, The Drama, Counselling and The Source.

A BETTER WAY
In the slum quarters of Nairobi many women and young girls are forced into prostitution.
They see this as their only way of surviving. In this group almost everyone are infected with HIV.

A number of female sex workers made up their minds to change their lives and create a better future for themselves and their children. They established the micro finance project K-VOWRC (Kenya Voluntary Women Rehabilitation Centre). The project covers around 580 women, who have been given a chance to withdraw from working in a dangerous business and instead creating a new safe future.

The exhibition A BETTER WAY describes in black and white photos the photographer’s impressions from the slum quarters in Nairobi and the way the women are fighting for a better way of living through the project of Micro Finance.
